Because anybody who knows me knows that I LOVE birthdays, I thought I would let you know that I am going to do an open house for my "29 for the first time" birthday.
It will be this Saturday evening from 7-9ish... We'll have cake and ice cream and maybe a few other snacks (feel free to bring a snack if you want) and will have a fire in the firepit with movies or video games on the big screen. (Our usual MO)
Feel free to bring (or forward this email) to anyone who I may have missed. I'm sure I didn't miss them intentionally.
Send me an email address if you need an address or directions.

Freedom of Religion
“Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant, and the rule of law under God is acknowledged. When our Founding Fathers passed the First Amendment, they sought to protect churches from government interference. They never intended to construct a wall of hostility between government and the concept of religious belief itself. To those who cite the First Amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions every day; I say, The First Amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny.” –Ronald Reagan

Bare Bones
I have to say, that I was sadly disappointed with the Bones Season Finale. It was an episode that normally should be a fluff, middle of the season episode.
For those of you who don't watch Bones, Booth and Bones are partners. Booth is the hot, man's man FBI agent and Bones is the hot scientist who is uber logical and just a bit socially retarded (this is where Todd interjects that I am very similar to her, only not a scientist and not super smart). What makes this show different from every other cop/CSI show, is the witty banter and the denied chemistry between Booth and Bones (think X-Files during it's prime).
SO...to appease fans, the writers figured out a way to hook Booth and Bones up without ruining what makes the show great, the sexual tension. They created an alternate reality for the season finale. Most of the show consisted of a fluffy writing, which left us hanging regarding an operation that Booth had.
In just the last couple of minutes of the show, it cuts back to reality and Booth wakes up from his surgery...of course, with amnesia. Sigh...well, at least there is witty banter.

Hope of America Program
The Hope of America program is put on by all of the elementary schools in Utah county. I remember being in it when I was little. Now that the kids live in Payson, they got to participate in this year, as well. Here are just a few shots from the evening.
The kids are in the yellow shirts on the bottom left-hand side of the flag.
The whole program is designed to help children realize what their responsibilities as Americans are. Here is one of the songs that they sing about voting. There was also a song about the Declaration of Independence that I thought was pretty cool.
I couldn't resist posting this last video. One of the dance groups was a group of women aged 50+, with the oldest woman being 92. They danced a fun line dance number and ended with a solo by the oldest woman. All I can say is...wow. I mean, she ends in the splits! When I grow up I want to be just like her.
